Formwork Engineer – High?Rise Residential Buildings (MIVAN & Conventional Formwork) – 5–12 Years Experience


The Formwork Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing all formwork activities for high?rise residential building structures. The role requires in?depth technical expertise in MIVAN Aluminium Formwork, along with working experience in conventional, modular, and MS shuttering systems. The engineer ensures structural accuracy, quality, and timely completion of floor cycles in residential towers.


Key Responsibilities


1. MIVAN Aluminium Formwork – Primary Responsibility


  • Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of MIVAN formworkfor: 
    • Shear walls, Slabs and beams, Columns and core walls, Staircases,Balconies and façade elements
  • Prepare MIVAN sequence plans, pour plans, cycle planning, and daily task allocation.
  • Inspect and approve formwork alignment, plumb, line, and level before concreting.
  • Review and manage MIVAN shop drawings, panel layouts, and material schedules.
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance of damaged panels to ensure reuse efficiency.

2. Conventional & Modular Formwork (Secondary Responsibility)


  • Plan and supervise other formwork systemssuch as: 
    • MS shuttering, Timber/plywood formwork, Modular/steel formwork, Cuplock and scaffold support systems
  • Manage podiums, basements, water tanks, ramps, retaining walls, and non?MIVAN structural areas.
  • Ensure full structural stability, correct support spacing, propping & de?propping procedures.

3. Technical Planning & Coordination


  • Develop daily/weekly/monthly formwork plans in coordination with Planning, Structure, and MEP teams.
  • Ensure all MEP sleeves, conduits, openings, and embedments are incorporated before shutter closure.
  • Coordinate with reinforcement and concrete teams to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Manage site constraints in mixed?formwork residential projects and provide technical solutions.

4. Structural Quality Control


  • Ensure formwork is erected as per: 
    • Approved drawings, Method statements, Project specifications, Safety standards
  • Check shuttering integrity: joint tightness, tie?rod spacing, support systems, and rigidity.
  • Prevent common defects: honeycombing, bulging, blowouts, shutter leaks, and misalignment.
  • Conduct pre?pour and post?pour inspections and ensure corrective actions.

5. Safety Compliance


  • Enforce strict safety controls during: 
    • Panel lifting and shifting, Erection and dismantling work, Scaffold and platform work, Working at height
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ensure PPE compliance for all formwork teams.
  • Identify and eliminate unsafe conditions immediately.

6. Material & Inventory Management


  • Prepare and monitor inventory of: 
    • MIVAN panels, Props, beams, soldiers, Pins, wedges, wall ties, bracketsScaffolding materials
  • Plan and control material movement between floors.
  • Ensure proper storage, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of panels.
  • Reduce material damage, loss, and wastage through strict monitoring.

7. Documentation & Reporting


  • Prepare: 
    • Daily Progress Reports (DPR)
    • Formwork checklists
    • De?shuttering logs
    • Pour sequence reports
    • Material usage and consumption reports
  • Highlight delays, manpower issues, material shortages, and technical challenges to the Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Maintain records for quality audits and safety inspections.

Qualifications & Skills


  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • 5–12 years of experience in formwork for high-rise residential projects experience in MIVAN Aluminium Formwork.
  • Strong technical understanding of: 
    • MIVAN panel layouts and assembly
    • Structural drawings, GFCs, and shop drawings
    • Conventional shuttering systems
    • Formwork cycle planning techniques
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage large formwork teams and subcontractors.
