Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain backup solutions across on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Create and manage disaster recovery (DR) plans, including failover, failback, and recovery testing.
• Monitor and troubleshoot backup and recovery operations to ensure compliance with recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO).
• Perform regular DR drills and validation tests, documenting lessons learned and improving processes.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.
• Automate backup processes using scripting languages and tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
• Maintain documentation for backup procedures, configurations, schedules, and escalation protocols.
• Analyze system health and performance, recommending optimizations and capacity planning.
• Participate in incident response for data loss, system outages, or disaster scenarios.
• Keep abreast of the latest backup and DR technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in backup and disaster recovery engineering.
• Hands-on experience with backup solutions such as Commvault, Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Dell EMC Avamar, or Azure Backup.
• Experience in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of data protection principles, encryption, retention policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, etc.).
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work across teams.
• Knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and containerized workloads is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certifications like Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Veeam Certified Engineer, or Commvault Certified Specialist.
• Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks like GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or Zabbix is an advantage (ID016)
