Finishing Engineer
The Finishing Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all finishing works in a high-rise residential project. The role requires strong technical expertise in architectural finishes, proactive coordination, and a commitment to delivering high-quality output within defined timelines.


Key Responsibilities


1. Execution of Finishing Works


  • Plan and supervise finishing activities including: 
    • Blockwork, cement plastering, putty, painting
    • Gypsum plastering for internal walls and ceilings
    • Granite flooring, cladding, and staircase works
    • Handrail installation (MS/SS/Glass/Aluminium)
    • Tiling and flooring works (ceramic, vitrified, granite, marble)
    • False ceiling (gypsum/POP)
    • Waterproofing, carpentry, doors/windows installation
  • Ensure all activities are executed per approved architectural drawings, specifications, and method statements.

2. Planning & Coordination


  • Prepare daily and weekly micro?schedules for finishing zones.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, facade, and interior teams to maintain proper sequence and avoid rework.
  • Liaise with subcontractors for manpower planning, materials, and timely execution.
  • Ensure work fronts are ready and clear of MEP or structural pending works before starting finishes.

3. Quality Control & Assurance


  • Inspect finishing works regularly to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Ensure gypsum plastering is carried out with proper thickness, level accuracy, corner beads, and surface finish.
  • Verify granite installation for straight lines, edge profiles, joint alignment, polishing quality, and adhesive application.
  • Check handrail alignment, fixing methods, welds, finishes, and load-bearing adequacy.
  • Implement quality checklists, conduct snag inspections, and ensure timely rectification.
  • Reject or escalate any non?conforming materials or poor workmanship.

4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting


  • Monitor daily productivity and progress of finishing teams.
  • Maintain records such as DPRs, MIRs, WIRs, and checklists.
  • Identify delays, material shortages, quality issues, or resource bottlenecks and escalate immediately.
  • Ensure smooth coordination during inspections by client/consultant teams.

5. Safety & Compliance


  • Enforce safety protocols during height work, granite cutting/handling, handrail installation, and heavy material lifting.
  • Conduct toolbox talks for finishing crews.
  • Ensure all workers use PPE and follow safe practices.

6. Client & Consultant Coordination


  • Assist in presenting sample mock-ups for gypsum, granite, paint finishes, handrails, etc.
  • Attend client/consultant inspections and ensure timely closure of snag lists.
  • Provide finishing status updates and maintain professional communication during handover stages.

Qualifications & Skills


  • B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • 5–12 years of relevant experience in finishing works in high?rise residential projects.
  • Strong knowledge of: 
    • Gypsum plastering systems and standards
    • Granite installation methods (flooring, skirting, staircases, cladding)
    • Handrail types and fixing methodologies
    • Drawings, specifications, BOQs, and architectural details
  • Ability to manage subcontractors, workers, and resources efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and site coordination skills.
