Job description

Company:Qualcomm India Private Limited
Job Area:Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Software Engineering

General Summary:

Staff Software Engineer, Rack Management

General Summary:

About the Role

Qualcomm is seeking an experienced engineer to own and lead the design, development, and deployment of rack management software for AI accelerator products in data center environments. This role spans provisioning, monitoring, orchestration, and lifecycle management across heterogeneous hardware and software stacks, with an emphasis on building secure, reliable, and resilient software that operates close to hardware and at scale.

The ideal candidate will apply secure‑by‑design principles to distributed infrastructure systems, helping define security patterns and system behavior, focusing on strong isolation, controlled access, and predictable behavior in complex, multi‑tenant data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure software for rack‑scale and distributed environments.
  • Lead development of high‑performance, security‑critical services, making informed tradeoffs across concurrency, fault tolerance, isolation, and system reliability.
  • Define and evolve secure control‑plane designs, including APIs and automation for provisioning, orchestration, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Establish and drive security design patterns and best practices for multi‑tenant infrastructure, including isolation, access control, and resource governance.
  • Collaborate across software, hardware, firmware, and platform teams to ensure cohesive system behavior and end‑to‑end security properties.
  • Lead or participate in architecture reviews, threat modeling, and design discussions for complex, cross‑team systems.
  • Design and implement observability strategies (telemetry, logging, tracing) to support operational reliability and security visibility at scale.
  • Contribute to technical direction, documentation, and continuous improvement of infrastructure and security practices across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience building infrastructure, platform, or distributed systems, including systems operating at scale or close to hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience owning technical design or architecture for complex software systems, including making and documenting significant design tradeoffs.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Go; experience with C++ or other systems‑level languages is a plus.
  • Experience building or securing control‑plane services, internal platforms, or developer‑facing infrastructure APIs.
  • Practical experience designing for secure, multi‑tenant environments, including authentication, authorization, isolation, and resource controls.
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux‑based systems and containerized environments; familiarity with Kubernetes security mechanisms (e.g., RBAC, network policies) preferred.
  • Experience applying secure software development practices, such as threat modeling, design reviews, security testing, and incident analysis.
  • Proven ability to influence technical decisions across teams through design reviews, documentation, and technical leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, or similar.

References to a particular number of years of experience are for indicative purposes only. Candidates with equivalent experience will be considered if they demonstrate the ability to fulfill the principal duties of the role and possess the required competencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
