In our expanding Livable Places team, an opportunity exists for a talented Engineer to assist in the development, design and delivery of a range of transport schemes including walking and cycling, road safety, highway, and parking. Projects range from scheme development to design and implementation.
We require an individual with experience in some or all of the following areas to fulfil our expanding portfolio of work from public and private sector organisations:
Highway/ Transport infrastructure design, low/ medium cost highway design schemes.
Public realm Design- Footways/ Cycleways, Design of Pedestrian/ Cycle crossings.
Design of Bus Corridors/ Park and Ride schemes.
Junction Design – Priority/ Signalised/ Roundabout Junctions.
Road Signs and Markings design.
Parking studies/ strategies.
Technical report for scheme appraisals.
Vehicle Swept path analysis.
Basic Knowledge on Traffic Signals.
Project Management – Design Decision Registers/ Design Risk Registers.
Responsibilities
Projects will largely be focussed on the UK, although a range of opportunities exist for work for other regions.
Working on both public and private sector schemes, the role holder will be required to provide technical support on various engineering projects from initiation to completion. Working alongside Senior, Principal and Associate Engineers, your team will be responsible for delivering a wide range of project outputs to the high standards expected by WSP and our clients.
Key Competencies / Skills
Ability to carry out engineering tasks from initiation through to completion without continual direction
Have a good level of technical expertise in Highways or Transport
Have a good knowledge of relevant technical design standards
Conduct required checks and reviews of iCRC team’s designs and drawings
Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables
Ability to work well as an individual and in a team.
Understanding of software’s operations and limitations
Support the successful delivery of projects on time adhering to quality and budgets
Ability to handle and deliver small schemes independently.
Mandatory skills
Knowledge of Highway Geometric Design
Knowledge of using Autodesk AutoCAD software independently
Knowledge of using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D software independently
Knowledge on Keysigns/line or similar Road signs/ marking design software
BEng /BTech in Civil Engineering preferably MEng/ MTech on Highways/ Traffic engineering with a minimum of 4 years experience in the field of Highways/ Transportation.
Member or working towards associated Professional body membership.
Preferably having 1 year of working experience on UK projects.
