Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Engineer – Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) for a Hydro Power Project. The candidate will be responsible for implementing safety standards, environmental management systems, statutory compliance, risk assessment, and occupational health & safety practices at project sites including tunnel works, dam works, underground structures, blasting areas, batching plants, and heavy equipment operations.
The role requires proactive monitoring of site safety, hazard identification, incident prevention, environmental protection measures, and ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and company safety requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Management
- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices at site.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities.
- Monitor work activities related to:
- Tunnel works
- Blasting operations
- Working at height
- Heavy lifting activities
- Excavation works
- Electrical safety
- Confined space entry
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety induction, and awareness training programs.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare corrective action reports.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by all workers and staff.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and mock drills.
Environmental Management
- Ensure environmental compliance as per statutory norms and project requirements.
- Monitor dust suppression, waste disposal, noise control, muck disposal, water pollution prevention, and slope protection measures.
- Maintain records related to environmental monitoring and compliance.
- Coordinate with environmental consultants and regulatory authorities.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident reports, and statutory documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EHS reports.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Support client audits and third-party inspections.
Mandatory Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction EHS standards for Hydro Power Projects.
- Experience in tunnel safety management and underground construction safety.
- Knowledge of blasting safety procedures and explosives handling regulations.
- Understanding of environmental management in hilly and river diversion areas.
- Knowledge of risk assessment techniques such as:
- JSA (Job Safety Analysis)
- HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment)
- Method Statement Review
- Knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Familiarity with Indian statutory safety regulations and labor laws.
- Knowledge of firefighting systems and emergency response procedures.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 systems.
Software Skills
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Safety reporting and documentation tools
- Basic knowledge of digital EHS monitoring systems preferred
