The CFD Engineer role is responsible for applying advanced simulation methodologies to design, analyze, and optimize filter products and systems. You will work within the computational group and collaborate closely with product development engineers, experimentalists, and other teams to accelerate R&D innovations and reduce time spent in physical prototyping cycles.

This position reports to the Pall Computational Team Manager and is part of the R&D department.  This role will be located in Pune, India and will be an on-site role, coordinating primarily with teams in the US and some groups in Europe and Japan.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute high-fidelity CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations with commercial software such as Ansys Fluent to generate actionable product design insights for filters used in a range of applications (microelectronics, food and beverage, energy).
  • Support scale-up modeling from laboratory to pilot to production and system scale. Validate and refine CFD models against experimental data. Apply strong design-of-engineering knowledge and sensitivity studies to focus on critical parameters.
  • Apply different physical models, where appropriate. These can include multiphase modeling (droplets, particles) with Euler-Lagrange simulations, flow through porous media, thermal analysis, and even structural analyses.
  • Integrate CFD workflows with CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor), enabling parametric optimization. Build and adjust CAD models and create user-defined functions (UDFs) as needed.
  • Clearly communicate findings to cross-functional teams through technical reports, presentations, and stakeholder discussions.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Multiple years of experience using CFD (Ansys Fluent) for industrial applications
  • Deep proficiency with CAD (Autodesk inventor) and experienced with Ansys Fluent geometry preparation, mesh generation, CFD solvers, and post-processing/visualization
  • Solid foundation in fluid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Fluency in English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: N/A

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Developing user-defined functions or Python scripting for use in CFD environments
