Job description

Who are we:
Raptee.HV is a full- stack electric motorcycle startup with a very strong technical moat, founded in 2019 by four engineers from Chennai (Ex Tesla, Wipro), working on bringing a no-compromise upgrade motorcycle to an otherwise scooter- only EV market. Raptee is incubated at CIIC & ARAI.
Role Overview: We are looking for a driven and technically sharp Python Developer Intern to build essential diagnostic tooling for automotive ECUs. You will work with embedded software teams to develop robust applications that communicate with vehicle networks, covering protocol implementation, hardware interfacing, and data analysis to support validation and engineering activities.

What You’ll Do:- Develop and maintain Python-based tools for communicating with vehicle ECUs via CAN bus.
- Implement communication stacks handling ISO transport layers, data segmentation, and flow control logic.
- Interface with hardware adapters (e.g., Vector, Peak, Kvaser, or SocketCAN) to enable PC-to-Vehicle communication.
- Parse and serialize raw binary data and hexadecimal streams into human-readable engineering values.
- Implement application logic for fault code reading, memory flashing, and routine control sequences.
- Write efficient, modular code using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and asynchronous patterns.
- Create unit tests (PyTest) to simulate vehicle responses and validate protocol logic.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to define tool requirements and debug communication issues.
- Document API usage and protocol implementations for the wider engineering team.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain clean version control history.
Who Can Apply?- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering (or currently pursuing).
- Strong proficiency in Python 3.x, including data structures, OOP concepts, and the `struct` module.
- Understanding of CAN bus fundamentals (Frames, IDs, Payloads) and networking concepts (OSI model).
- Comfortable working with low-level data: Binary, Hexadecimal, and bitwise operations.
- Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub) and command-line interfaces.
- Exposure to libraries like python-can, scapy, or basic serial communication is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to debug hardware-software interfaces.
What’s In It for You:
  • Opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Opportunities for professional advancement as the company undergoes expansion.
  • A culture that fosters collaboration and creativity within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with seasoned experts in the field.
  • Gaining an entry point into the field of automobile development.
