Job description

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Project EHS Manager in Mumbai we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) to a dynamic and fast-paced field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, forward-thinking, and dedicated teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our people and contractors while minimizing environmental impacts and protecting Alstom’s assets. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Human Resources, Manufacturing, Platform, and Finance), lead EHS risk assessments, monitor compliance with regulations, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of implementing and maintaining emergency plans at the project level, as well as monitoring historical pollution and associated risks, but also coaching and assessing EHS teams within the project.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Supporting project management in achieving EHS performance goals

  • Ensuring EHS risk assessments are conducted and appropriate measures are implemented

  • Preparing and maintaining emergency plans

  • Ensuring sub-contractor activities are controlled with respect to EHS

  • Stopping operational activities that pose immediate high risks to people or the environment

  • Deploying Alstom EHS standards and tools, such as the Alstom Zero Deviation Plan (AZDP) and Transport Operational Performance in Environment (TOPE)

  • Monitoring compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual, and company requirements

  • Preparing and implementing EHS training and communication plans

  • Investigating and analyzing incidents and accidents, and ensuring reporting and documentation

  • Submitting monthly EHS reports and ensuring data quality

  • University degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field

  • Health & Safety qualification recognized by the country’s enforcing authorities (mandatory)

  • Experience in Environment, Health & Safety (minimum 3 years), with 5-8 years of professional experience in total

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO14001 and ISO45001

  • Familiarity with local legal requirements

  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills

  • Initiative and action-oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Analytical thinking and a rigorous mindset

  • Proficiency in computer skills

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools

  • A degree-level environmental qualification (desirable)

  • Experience in railway projects (desirable)

  • EHS auditing experience (desirable)

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new safety and environmental standards for rail projects

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and supportive colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative, impactful projects

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards senior leadership or specialized EHS roles

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
