Job description

This position is part of Nokia’s Network Infrastructure division within the Global Optics Technical Expertise Center (GOTEC). The role focuses on providing 24x7 global remote technical expertise and advanced product support for DWDM/WDM platforms. The TEC Engineer plays a key role in troubleshooting complex optical network issues, leading product anomaly resolution, and working closely with R&D to ensure high‑quality customer support and product stability.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide 24x7x365 remote technical support for DWDM/WDM products including GX G40, GX G30, and GX G3xc series.
  • Serve as technical expert to guide network interventions and mitigate traffic‑impacting issues.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and characterize hardware and software product anomalies prior to escalation to R&D, including preliminary root cause analysis.
  • Lead and contribute to the product defect resolution lifecycle through close collaboration with R&D teams.
  • Replicate customer‑reported issues in lab environments to validate product behavior and confirm defect root causes.
  • Define, review, and execute test plans for customer lab evaluations, field trials, and early network deployments.
  • Develop, verify, and document upgrade procedures and provide technical feedback on customer‑facing documentation.
  • Support customer demos, Proof of Concept (PoC), Type Approval testing, and pre‑Controlled Product (pre‑CP) validations.

Qualifications:

You have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 8-12 years of relevant experience in DWDM/WDM optical networking technical support, escalation engineering, systems verification, or related functions in the optical networking industry.
  • Experience supporting DWDM/WDM platforms; exposure to Nokia 1830 PSS / 1830 GX products is highly preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with optical test equipment such as OTDR, OSA, BERT, traffic generators, and optical power meters.
  • Practical knowledge of transmission technologies including DWDM, OTN, Carrier Ethernet, PTN/MPLS‑TP, and TCP/IP networking (L2/L3).

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Hands‑on exposure to ROADM, EDFA, Raman amplifiers, and coherent transponders.
  • Prior experience in customer‑facing technical support or collaboration with R&D teams is a strong advantage.
