Overview
The Mastercard Xborder Services team is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead platform transformation, drive engineering excellence, and scale global delivery. This role aligns technology strategy with business outcomes while building high-performing teams and delivering resilient, scalable platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead and scale global engineering teams, including vendor partners.
• Drive delivery of complex, high-quality software platforms on time and within budget.
• Champion best practices across architecture, DevOps, CI/CD, and agile delivery.
• Own end-to-end software delivery, operational readiness, and service reliability.
• Identify and mitigate technical, delivery, and operational risks.
• Partner with Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders and communicate progress to executive leadership.
Technical Expertise
• Scalable, real-time systems and modern distributed architectures.
• APIs, event-driven and messaging-based systems.
• Java, REST, Microservices, Spring Boot, Kafka.
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker.
• Databases: Oracle and open-source platforms.
People Leadership
• Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams.
• Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching, clear goals, and ongoing feedback.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 14+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale platforms in fast-paced environments.
• Payments or financial services experience is a plus.
• Strong business acumen, budgeting, and stakeholder management skills.
