Role Overview
As a Director of Engineering at Locus, you will play a mission-critical role in shaping and scaling the core technology that powers global supply chains. You will lead engineering teams that build our agentic Transportation Management System, now operating across 30+ countries and used by enterprises like Unilever, Nestlé, and IKEA Retail.
The Director of Engineering at Locus is the end-to-end engineering owner of the system, accountable for technology excellence, delivery reliability, and team effectiveness across their portfolio. This role combines hands-on technical leadership, execution ownership, people leadership, and solution accountability to ensure Locus platforms scale reliably, ship predictably, and meet demanding enterprise SLAs.
In this role, the Director of Engineering:
Sets and upholds the technical bar through architectural leadership, deep design reviews, and guidance on complex backend, platform, agentic AI, and optimization systems.
Owns delivery outcomes, ensuring high-quality, production-ready features are shipped on committed timelines with strong operational readiness and customer-facing reliability.
Builds and develops high-performing engineering teams, mentoring engineering managers and senior ICs while driving capability uplift across architecture, coding, execution, and AI-first engineering practices.
Acts as a cross-functional and client-facing leader, partnering with Product, SRE, QA, Data Science, Solutions, and GTM teams to align priorities, manage trade-offs, support customer engagements, and deliver measurable business impact.
Drives engineering culture and fundamentals, including ownership, craftsmanship, CI/CD quality, observability, reliability, long-term system health, and enterprise-grade solution maturity.
