The Development Lead (Learning Strategist) is a key leadership role within the IBM Consulting Global Learning & Knowledge (L&K) organization. Development Leads may be aligned to a Partner and Professional Development (PPD) or a Service Line Portfolio.
The Learning Strategist's role grows strong relationships with Senior Stakeholders and their teams to be a credible, trusted, and accountable advisor to develop and implement Learning Strategies aligned to the broader IBM Consulting Learning Strategy. The Development Lead works with the Lead Learning Strategist to develop a learning strategy for the portfolio, effectively addressing and closing skill gaps to support business priorities. The individual will interact with both global and geo senior stakeholders at both the business and learning levels. The Development Lead manages a team of Learning consultants and is focused on education development. The Development Lead collaborates closely with the Education Delivery Lead to ensure that the right content is available on time, within budget, and of high quality, thereby facilitating the effective implementation of the service line learning strategy. The role involves recognizing the need for innovative solutions based on business trends and engaging in discussions with senior leaders. The Development lead will create a culture of innovation and empower colleagues to thrive within the team. The role requires the individual to stay current with industry trends and identify innovative ideas and solutions for IBM, based on where the market is heading. Developing the curriculum to enable the implementation of a strong Learning Strategy is at the centre of this role.
. Strategic Planning:Develop learning strategies that align with organizational goals and anticipate future skill requirements. Ensure that learning initiatives support the overall business strategy and contribute to achieving business objectives and outcomes.
. Stakeholder Management:Engage with Global and Geo business leaders, as well as other key stakeholders, to understand business strategies and needs and ensure learning strategies align with business priorities. Lead strategy-focused conversations with complex and critical stakeholders.
. Skills Building Strategy:Lead the development and implementation of skills-building strategies in key focus areas. Ensure these strategies address current and future skill needs and support the growth and development of the workforce across the Service Line or Geos.
. Overseeing Learning Solutions:Manage a team of Learning Consultants responsible for collecting learning requirements and developing L&K solutions. Oversee the creation and delivery of technical or partner and professional development training.
. Innovative Learning Solutions:Stay abreast of innovative emerging learning technologies and apply them in IBM Consulting. Work with the education development teams hosted in the Studio to create and deploy innovative learning solutions across geographies and centers. Ensure learning solutions are effective, engaging, outcome-focused, and personalized to meet the needs of diverse learners.
. Cross-functional Collaboration/Teamwork:Work with other Offering and Growth or PPD Learning Strategists and cross-functional L&K portfolio teams, including the L&K Studio, Geo L&K leaders, Knowledge Management, and the Future Skills team. Ensure alignment and consistency across learning initiatives and leverage best practices.
. Curriculum Development:Oversee the development and maintenance of PPD or Service Line curricula for new and experienced hires. Ensure these curricula are personalized, comprehensive, relevant, and support the continuous development of the practitioners.
. Team Leadership: The DevelopmentLead is responsible for their GLC team performance, providing coaching and development opportunities, and managing administrative tasks related to people management.
