Job Summary:


Altus Group is looking for Database Reliability Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad, to support the infrastructure and network that hosts our flagship product. We need a self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to support the migration, availability, security, and releases of multiple global cloud products. As a Database Reliability Engineer, you can quickly come up to speed and jump in to implement, monitor, diagnose, and debug in AWS and Azure Cloud. You are always ready to respond to availability alerts and security issues and collaborate across teams to plan for timely updates and releases. Here’s what our new Database Reliability Engineer will work on:

Key Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the PostgreSQL administrator for all database-related initiatives.
  • Provide database expertise to architects and developers, including reviewing database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.
  • Implement and maintain PostgreSQL data models, throughput capacity, indexing, and backup/restore strategies.
  • Manage daily database operations for PostgreSQL and MSSQL environments, including provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, user management, and performance tuning.
  • Architect and maintain Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and optimal performance.
  • Design and manage Amazon PostgreSQL clusters to support data warehousing and analytical workloads.
  • Support database migration projects, especially transitions from legacy systems to Aurora or MSSQL.
  • Collaborate with international teams (US, UK, Canada) to support project objectives and operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, privacy, and audit requirements, maintaining strong governance and risk management.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure timely incident response, resolution, and high database service availability.
  • Conduct performance analysis and query optimization for PostgreSQL and Redshift workloads.
  • Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot database systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Advise on infrastructure design and scalability, focusing on data storage, automation, and orchestration of database infrastructure.
  • Leverage DevOps and automation tools, such as Git, JIRA, Ansible, and database CI/CD pipelines.
  • Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation, migration, and maintenance tasks.
  • Support and debug production issues across multiple services and system layers.
  • Document database designs, standards, and procedures, and provide knowledge transfer and training to team members.
  • Plan for future growth, including capacity planning, technology evaluation, and recommendations for database enhancements, resilience, and scalability.

Key Qualifications:


  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • You have, or you are interested in pursuing, your Database Specialty certification on AWS
  • Strong experience in cloud-based database management (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, etc.)
  • Hands-on expertise in database monitoring, backup/restore, replication, and
    performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to own incidents end-to-end and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working across diverse technical teams.
