Job description

Project Role : Database Administrator
Project Role Description : Design, implement and maintain databases. Install database management systems (DMBS). Develop procedures for day-to-day maintenance and problem resolution.
Must have skills : AWS Architecture
Good to have skills : Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security, AWS Administration, Infrastructure As Code (IaC)
Minimum 12 year(s) of experience is required
Educational Qualification : 15 years full time education
Summary:
As an AWS-focused Cloud Architect, you define and guide
the cloud architecture landscape at Kuehne + Nagel. You
design secure, scalable, cost-efficient cloud architectures
and provide technical leadership across teams. You shape
standards, drive cloud-native design principles, and ensure
the consistent use of preferred technologies such as
Terraform/Terragrunt, GitLab, and LGTM. Your work enables
Cloud Engineers and development teams to deliver robust,
maintainable, and compliant AWS solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Architectural Strategy & Design:
- Defines the target AWS cloud architecture, ensures alignment with enterprise standards, platform governance, and security policies.
- Designs cloud-native architectures using AWS services, modern application patterns (microservices, event-driven design, serverless, container platforms), and scalable multi-account strategies.
- Shapes architectural principles and reusable patterns that guide Cloud Engineers and development teams in building consistent, highquality solutions.

Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance:
- Reviews and validates architectural and Infrastructure-as-Code designs, ensuring they align with standards and preferred tooling (Terraform/Terragrunt, GitLab).
- Provides architectural guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Cloud Engineers, developers, and platform teams.
- Ensures cloud solutions are secure, cost-optimized, resilient, and compliant, integrating early design considerations into the project lifecycle.

Collaboration & Governance :

- Collaborates with other architects (Platform, Enterprise, Security, Data) to define cloud standards, guardrails, and shared capabilities.
- Promotes platform-first and reuse-oriented thinking, helping teams adopt shared services, governance controls, and standardized patterns instead of siloed
solutions.
- Facilitates communication across disciplines, translating complex cloud topics into clear, actionable guidance for both technical and business stakeholders.

Integration, Observability & Continuous Improvement :
- Guides hybrid-cloud design, ensuring secure connectivity and interoperability between AWS and on-prem systems.
- Supports consistent observability practices by promoting the use of the preferred LGTM stack, while maintaining awareness of adjacent monitoring ecosystems.
- Evaluates AWS innovations and emerging technologies, recommending adoption only when they add architectural or operational value and fit the preferred technology direction.

Professional & Technical Skills:
Expert-level hands-on experience with AWS, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, integration services, container platforms (EKS/ECS), and serverless solutions (Lambda).
- Strong proficiency with Terraform and Terragrunt as the main infrastructure-as-code foundation capable of assessing other IaC approaches when necessary.
- Experience with GitLab for structured version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated infrastructure workflows, with working knowledge of other CI/CD systems for context.
- Experience with the LGTM stack as the preferred observability solution, with awareness of alternative logging/metrics/tracing solutions when encountered.
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture principles, including multi-account design, security boundaries, networking patterns, resilience, scalability, and cost optimization.
- Ability to visualize and document architectures, create clear diagrams, and articulate architectural decisions at multiple abstraction levels.
- Strong communication skills to bridge architectural frameworks with implementation work carried out by Cloud Engineers and delivery teams.
- Ability to operate across conceptual, strategic, and hands-on layers to ensure architectural feasibility and long-term consistency.

Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 12 years of experience in AWS Architecture.
- This position is based at our Chennai office.
- A 15 years full time education is required.
