Data Loss Prevention Technical Specialist

We are looking for a DLP Technical Specialist, reporting into the Data Security Lead, that has had experience of implementing and tuning rules, ideally within Data Loss Prevention tooling, and supporting assessment of DLP alerts.




The role will be part of a newly formed DLP team that is looking to enhance existing DLP solutions and support the implementation of new technology. In addition, support will be provided to the DLP Operations team with implementation of rules, fine tuning and supporting Operations as required.




Specific Role Responsibilities



  • Define security requirements through threat, risk and gap analysis in response to new regulatory requirements, the insider risk threat, a data exfiltration incident or an internal request from the business
  • Build, test, tune and implement DLP policies across email, web, cloud, endpoint and DAR
  • Work closely with DLP and Security Operations Analysts to reduce the volume of false positives by tuning existing DLP policies to make efficiency gains
  • Create and maintain all Policy Development Playbooks and Process Guides
  • Maintain metrics highlighting current gaps and efforts to improve monitoring
  • Investigate DLP alerts as required
  • Adhere to FNZs internal change control policy
  • Provide knowledge and support during cyber security incidents

Experience Required



  • Experience in implementing and tuning rules, using Data Loss Prevention tooling and preferably with Proofpoint DLP
  • An understanding of insider threat and ideally UBA
  • Knowledge/experience in DLP technologies, email gateways and cloud proxy
  • An understanding of security monitoring technologies including SIEM and EDR solutions
  • A good understanding of modern cloud architecture
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and standards such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and PCI-DSS
  • Knowledge of data classification methods, data masking and data encryption
  • A good understanding of the current cyber threat landscape for firms operating in the Financial Services and Wealth Management sector
  • Evidence of building strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Past experience working within a SOC, DLP, or Security Engineering team.
