Data Engineer


Basic Qualifications:


  • Three or more years of experience in data engineering or data science roles
  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in computer science, information systems, statistics, data analytics or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced statistical analysis, the development and maintenance of datasets, improvement of data quality & efficiency
  • Strong verbal and written communicator who can work in a team environment

Technical Know-How Required: 


  • Knowledge and hands-on application of database technologies (SQL, Snowflake, Hadoop, etc.) 
  • Ability to query databases using programming languages (R, Python, SAS etc.) to manipulate and draw insights from large data sets
  • Data Modelling & Warehousing Concepts (relational & non-relational) and Data Architecture
  • ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Experience
  • Excel – Advanced

Technical “Nice-to-Haves”: 


  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Power BI, Business Objects, etc.
  • Experience with data validation and Data Intelligence Systems like Collibra & Atacama
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP and/or SAP data 
  • Familiarity with GSC, GSM, procurement, or business processes in space would be a bonus

Overview of Role: In this role, the Data Engineer will partner with the GSM & IT organizations to ensure completeness & accuracy goals for both source data and applications are measured, maintained and the path(s) to improvement are defined and thereafter, executed on.  The primary data domain(s) for this role will be Category Management & Supplier Management.


Primary responsibility will include:


  • Design, develop, and modify data infrastructure to accelerate the processes of data analysis and reporting
  • Responsible for understanding business, conceptualizing and analyze data framework 
  • Define data requirements and coordinate implementation with business partners and vendors for solution design and delivery
  • Evaluate the performance of data systems and seek ways to enhance them
  • Perform data quality / cleansing, de-duplication and harmonization of data across various systems through manual & automated efforts
  • Work closely and share ideas with fellow Data Engineers, Developers, Technical Project Managers, and stakeholders
  • Combine raw data from various sources and create a useable/meaningful dataset
