In this role, you will: 



  • Monitor and track key data quality metrics and key control indicators across data management controls, reporting progress and risks for senior management consumption.
  • Collate root cause analysis of data control breaches and review actions to avoid recurrence. Perform data risk assessments and execute regular data control effectiveness assessments
  • Create actionable plans to remediate gaps in control effectiveness and track corrective actions to closure. Seek changes to improve control monitoring and reporting processes including changes to enterprise data management tools, UK business owned data management controls, key control measurement indicators or the data governance framework
  • Support control monitoring and reporting improvement initiatives by working with IT/data engineers to develop tooling such as automated alerts on data control breaches or anomalies.
  • Engage with second and third lines of defence on audits and assurance reviews related to data management and controls.
  • Provide training sessions on data controls to uplift data literacy of the organization , Collaborate within the data management team, contributing to a high-performing data function.

To be successful you will: 



  • Expertise data management controls with knowledge of evolving best practices. Understanding of data management frameworks, access, retention and data quality controls
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR etc.). Experience of data control monitoring activities and highlighting breaches of key data control indicators
  • Proficiency with enterprise data monitoring and reporting tools (e.g., Collibra). Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to translate technical data issues into business impact to communicate with business stakeholders
  • Ability to review and document effectiveness of existing data controls in mitigating the data risk. Comfortable explaining data control effectiveness assessment activities to assurance or audit reviewers
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management and presentation skills. Well versed with Excel.  Familiarity with Python or BI tools, Confluence and Jira is an added advantage
  • Experience in data management, operational risk, audit or controls in a complex large Global organisation preferably in a Transformation or IT department or shared service organization. Experience of working on a regional scale (i.e. across time zone & geography and with remote teams)
