The Cybersecurity Specialist – Emerging Technologies plays a key role in protecting the data that supports Medtronic’s mission to save and improve lives. This role focuses on using automation and emerging technologies to improve cybersecurity outcomes while enabling the business to innovate securely. The specialist partners closely with innovation, IT, product, and cybersecurity teams to evaluate new technologies, develop secure integrations and automated workflows, and provide clear security guidance during pilots and early deployments. They translate evolving business needs into actionable security requirements, help define standards and guardrails for new technology adoption, and balance innovation with enterprise risk to support safe, scalable growth.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Use automation to improve cybersecurity operations.


  • Identify where automation or AIdriven solutions can improve security outcomes.


  • Understand and leverage emerging technologies to improve Medtronic’s cybersecurity posture.


  • Communicate risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.


  • Research industry trends, proofs of concept, and vendor capabilities.


  • Influence standards and policies to account for new or rapidly evolving technologies.


  • Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and platforms.


  • Provide security guidance during pilots, prototypes, and early production deployments.


  • Help define security patterns and guardrails for new technology adoption.


  • Create and integrate APIbased automations that connect security tools and enterprise platforms


  • Partner with innovation, IT, product, and cybersecurity teams to embed security early in new emerging technologies.


  • Support broader cybersecurity initiatives when emerging technologies intersect with enterprise risk.


  • Document lessons learned to inform future technology rollouts.


  • Translate evolving business ideas into actionable security requirements.


  • Balance innovation and security to enable the business


  • Participate in crossfunctional forums shaping the organization’s technology roadmap.


  • Mentor peers on secure innovation and emerging threat considerations.


Required Knowledge and Expertise:


  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently.


  • Min 3+yrs of experience in IT.


  • Clear communication skills to explain technical solutions to non‑technical stakeholders.


  • Understanding of secure coding practices & enterprise cybersecurity.


  • Experience building automation solutions that reduce manual effort.


  • Development skills with scripting experience (PowerShell, Python).


  • Experience integrating systems using APIs, web services, or REST‑based interfaces.


NICE TO HAVE


  • Previous work in a regulated or large enterprise environment.


  • Hands-on background building custom GPTs leveraging prompt engineering and RAG methodologies.


  • Demonstrated capability applying agentic AI patterns in enterprise environments (task decomposition, agent coordination, and governance considerations).


  • Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals (version control, code reviews, modular design, documentation, and testing).


  • Experience with ServiceNow administration.


  • Proficiency using PowerShell to interact with Microsoft administrative services (Active Directory, Entra ID, and Graph API).


  • Familiarity with Teneo.AI or other virtual assistant platforms.


  • Understands Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.


  • Background developing new policies, standards, and processes.


  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Azure Cloud Fundamentals.
