Position Overview


The Senior Associate supports day-to-day processing and risk management activities within the Check Operations department, with a strong focus on check exception review, resolution, and adherence to operational controls. This role is responsible for executing assigned processing activities accurately and timely, identifying potential operational risks, and escalating issues appropriately.


The Senior Associate works closely with the Officer and key partners to resolve exceptions, maintain control discipline, and support high-quality operational outcomes in a regulated environment.


Key Responsibilities


Check Processing & Fraud Awareness


- Perform daily check processing and exception review, including posting, returns, and related research activities.


- Identify unusual activity, exception trends, duplicate presentments, altered or counterfeit items, and potential fraud indicators.


- Escalate suspicious activity or processing concerns to team leads, Officers, or Fraud partners.


- Support resolution-oriented investigations by providing documentation, research, and timely follow-up.


- Communicate clearly with internal partners to support issue resolution and service delivery.


Operational Controls & Risk Support


- Execute processing activities in strict adherence to established controls, procedures, and regulatory requirements.


- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of assigned work.


- Identify potential control gaps, processing errors, or emerging risks and escalate promptly.


- Support audit, risk, and control reviews.


Issue Resolution & Collaboration


- Research and resolve routine to moderately complex reconciliation issues independently.


- Partner with Officer and peers to resolve complex exceptions.


- Follow escalation paths when needed.


- Contribute to a collaborative team environment.


Process Improvement & Change Support


- Identify inefficiencies and recurring exceptions.


- Support process improvements and system enhancements.


- Provide feedback to leadership.


Senior Associate-Level Expectations
