About the Role

We are seeking a skilled StepWise Developer with hands-on experience on the Optum StepWise platform to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade quoting, rating, and workflow automation solutions.
StepWise is a multi-tier enterprise application built on Microsoft .NET, ASP.NET, and SQL Server, supporting complex business processes with integrations across distributed systems and databases.


The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in workflow automation, data integration, and scalable enterprise application development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows and integrations using the StepWise platform
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, efficient, and maintainable process flows
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, APIs, and event-driven workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance existing workflows for performance, stability, and reliability
  • Document workflows, configurations, and best practices for internal and client use
Technical Responsibilities (StepWise Platform)
  • Develop and maintain StepWise components, including:
    • Rating services (quote and pricing logic)
    • Workflow services for end-to-end business process automation
    • Web services for security, content management, and system integrations
  • Work with Windows services and ASP.NET web applications within the StepWise ecosystem
  • Design and manage database structures for configuration and transactional data
  • Implement integrations with external systems using ODBC, APIs, and enterprise data sources
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience developing on the StepWise platform (Optum experience preferred)
  • Strong experience with:
    • Microsoft .NET / ASP.NET
    • SQL Server and relational database design
  • Proficient in SQL querying, data manipulation, and performance tuning
  • Advanced Excel skills to support formula calculations and configurations within StepWise tools
  • Experience building and consuming REST/SOAP web services
  • Familiarity with enterprise system integrations (Oracle, DB2, ODBC-compliant systems)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or financial services domains
  • Exposure to rating engines, quoting systems, or underwriting workflows
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and distributed systems
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of enterprise applications

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, distributed teams
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and long-term maintainability
