Position Summary

The Business Development Manager – Clinical Genomics is responsible for driving strategic business growth, market expansion, and clinical adoption of genomics and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) solutions across assigned geographies. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding presence within clinical genomic testing ecosystems, including molecular pathology labs, hospitals, diagnostic networks, and reference laboratories. The position collaborates closely with sales, marketing, applications, and global business teams to accelerate adoption of clinical genomics solutions and achieve sustainable growth.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth Strategy


  • Develop and execute business development strategies to accelerate adoption of clinical genomics and NGS solutions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments.
  • Support regional and national business objectives with clear ownership of growth initiatives, pipeline development, and revenue contribution.
  • Drive expansion of clinical genomics workflows across oncology, rare disease, inherited disorders, reproductive health, and other clinical applications.

Go-to-Market & Commercial Enablement


  • Partner with sales leadership to define and execute go-to-market strategies for clinical genomics solutions.
  • Lead initiatives around new customer acquisition, solution positioning, and value proposition articulation.
  • Support new product introductions (NPIs), technology upgrades, and solution launches in clinical genomics.
  • Assist in shaping pricing, contracting, and proposal strategies for complex clinical and institutional opportunities

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical KOLs, molecular pathology labs, hospital systems, diagnostic chains, and reference laboratories.
  • Engage with decision-makers including clinicians, lab directors, pathologists, and hospital administrators.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships and reference sites to support clinical adoption and market credibility.
  • Collaborate with applications and medical teams to support scientific discussions and clinical validation efforts.

Market Development & Insights


  • Conduct market intelligence, customer needs assessment, and workflow analysis to identify adoption barriers and growth levers.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and evolving clinical genomics trends to refine business strategies.
  • Provide structured market feedback to regional and global stakeholders to inform portfolio and strategy decisions.
  • Support channel partners and commercial teams with training, market insights, and opportunity qualification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of clinical genomics, NGS workflows, and molecular diagnostic applications.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear clinical and business value propositions.
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, opportunity development, and stakeholder influence.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • High learning agility and strong interest in genomics-driven precision medicine.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional, and fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related discipline; PhD preferred.
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles within clinical genomics, molecular diagnostics, or life sciences.
  • Strong experience engaging clinical customers and driving adoption of NGS or molecular diagnostic solutions.
  • Exposure to institutional, hospital, and diagnostic laboratory environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving market expansion and strategic growth initiatives.
