Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Civil & Structural - Consultant - Geo Technical with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas sector for Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India



The Role



  • Must have exposure to
    • Review and interpret the Geotechnical investigation report for various recommendation in executing civil works
    • Experienced in providing foundation recommendations for oil & gas plant structures and equipment
    • Experienced in providing soil improvement including band drains & Stone columns techniques
    • Expert in slope stability analysis and design including shore protection/ water seepage study
  • Must have sound working experience in using Indian, Euro and American standards for Geo Technical works.
  • Thorough experience in production of deliverables such as General arrangement drawings for Geo technical works, Detail drawings & supporting Calculations for slope stability and soil improvement techniques.
  • Should have experience on constructability review.
  • Exposure to American petroleum Industry & OISD requirement for Civil & Geotechnical works will be plus point.

The key objectives for this role are:



  • Review of Geotechnical work of contractor’s drawings and document
  • Attending internal meeting &l review with client as Geo technical leader
  • Monitoring the project schedules/Quantities/Changes through timely review and comments
  • Ensuring all deliverables are comply with quality as per Wood /Client/Project/Code specifications & standards.
  • Review of vendor drawings/other discipline drawings for adequacy of Civil & Geo technical design input requirements
  • Provide inputs on permit, constructability and best engineering practice requirement.

BE /B.Tech Civil Engineering/ME/M.Tech Geo Tech Engineering



Years of experience: 20Yrs-35Yrs



  • Graduate Engineer with minimum 20 years’ experience in Geo technical engineering, should be conversant with international codes and standards.
  • Major experience (more than 15 years) should be from Geo Technical Engineering.
  • Experience in PMC role handling Geo technical works independently is essential.
  • Work exposure to 3D tools (PDS/PDMS) and discipline software such as Staad /SAP etc. required for soil & structure interaction analysis
  • Experiences Rock anchor and dynamic foundation soil interaction
  • Hands on experience on proposal estimate including man hour estimate, Cost & Quantity estimate
  • Communication and Management skills to handle Client & Construction contractor is required.
  • Master’s degree in Geo Technical engineering works preferred.
