Job Description
So, who are we?
IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.3m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions – built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses. The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next. Join us at IG – the future gets built here.
Your team
IG Group is looking for a Business Continuity Manager to own and lead its BCM programme across a regulated global financial services business. This is a senior management role that sits within BCM — not a technical specialist position.
Your role in the Team’s Success
We are looking for a clear thinker, a confident stakeholder partner, and someone who holds themselves and others to a genuinely high standard.
Reporting to the COO, you will be accountable for IG’s BCM programme across multiple regulatory jurisdictions — including the UK (FCA), EU (DORA), Singapore (MAS) and Australia (ASIC). You will engage directly with ExCo and senior leaders, chair the BCM Steering Committee, and be a visible, trusted voice on operational resilience across the business.
BCM knowledge matters. But what will make you successful here is the quality of your thinking, your working habits, and the standard you hold yourself to.
What you will do
BCM Programme Delivery
Own, develop and maintain the IG Group BCM Framework, ensuring it is honest, evidence-based, and fit for regulatory scrutiny across all applicable jurisdictions.
Lead business impact analysis across global entities, working with business owners to identify critical services, define recovery objectives, and map key dependencies.
Own the BCM testing programme and annual schedule, holding business and technology teams to account for plan quality, test completion, and action resolution.
Hold accountability for IG’s emergency communications capability (Everbridge), ensuring coverage is current and regularly tested.
Ensure BCM risks are understood, clearly documented, and actively managed — with unresolved issues escalated and kept visible until resolved.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the business — Technology, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and regional leadership — ensuring BCM is seen as a valued partner, not a periodic obligation.
Chair the BCM Steering Committee, setting the agenda, preparing materials, and driving accountability for actions and decisions.
Represent BCM at senior governance forums and produce high-quality written reports, presentations, and briefings for ExCo and Board audiences.
Engage regulators and auditors with confidence, managing BCM-related findings and commitments to closure.
Governance, Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Own BCM KRIs and programme reporting, providing clear, accurate status to senior governance forums and escalating material issues promptly.
Lead the delivery of BCM awareness and training across the organisation, ensuring staff at all levels understand their responsibilities.
Drive continuous improvement across the programme — identifying gaps, defining solutions, and seeing them through to resolution.
Team
Line-manage a small BCM team, setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and actively developing capability.
Coach team members and build a high-performing function with a shared commitment to quality and professional rigour.
What you’ll need for this role
Mindset and approach — essential
Proactive and self-directing — you keep stakeholders informed, manage your own workload, and do not let things go silent.
A clear, independent thinker who brings their own view and is comfortable challenging where something looks inconsistent or untested.
Curious and thorough — you investigate when something does not add up and come back with solutions, not just observations.
Attentive to detail and committed to quality in everything that leaves your hands.
An excellent communicator, written and verbal, who can pitch accurately to a Board member and a regional coordinator in the same day.
Confident using AI tools, including large language models, to work at pace without compromising quality or judgement.
Calm and effective under pressure, with the ability to bring order to complex, fast-moving situations.
Experience — essential
Experience working in a governance, risk, assurance, or operational resilience function in a regulated environment, with demonstrable exposure to BCM or closely adjacent disciplines.
Experience preparing high-quality materials — Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel trackers and analysis — for senior and executive audiences.
Experience engaging a wide range of stakeholders across business functions, including technology, risk, and compliance teams.
Demonstrable experience managing multiple priorities and workstreams with attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
Experience working across global or multi-site organisations, ideally with exposure to multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
BCM knowledge — essential
A solid working understanding of BCM principles: Business Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Planning, DR testing, recovery objectives (RTO/RPO), and incident response.
Sufficient knowledge of BCM regulatory requirements to engage credibly with regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders — depth will develop with exposure to IG’s multi-jurisdictional environment.
Qualifications
Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
MBCI (Member of the Business Continuity Institute) or equivalent qualification — desirable, not essential. We will support development of any candidate who is the right fit.
