Purpose of Role



To support the Head of Boarding by performing assigned duties in hostel management, maintaining close oversight of boarders' health, hygiene, discipline, grooming, academic progress and daily routines while ensuring a clean, safe and structured living environment.​

Role Definition



The Head Warden/Wardens of the boarding house shall perform such duties assigned to them by the Head of Boarding (HoB) from time to time and they shall function under the overall charge of the Head of Boarding (HoB).



Responsibility Deliverable



Comprehensive tasks cover boarder oversight (health, hygiene, discipline, academics), daily presence and routine enforcement, record maintenance (attendance twice daily at 5pm/9pm, individual portfolios), parent communications on illnesses, dining hall inspections, dorm cleanliness/furniture checks and compliance with Head of Boarding directives.



Tasks & Activities



The Wardens shall keep close contact with the boarders and shall pay attention to their health, hygiene, and discipline, grooming and general life in the boarding house. Warden should behave as a role model and should be mindful of his/her language. Indecent or inappropriate behaviour of the warden may lead to immediate suspension or expulsion from his responsibilities and even from employment. He/she should uphold personal hygiene and professional ethics. Warden should not disclose or share any personal information including mobile numbers with parents or boarders. He/ should not receive any gifts/favours from parents or boarders. He/she will be responsible for the cleanliness of the boarding house and ensure those surroundings are clean too. The warden should act as a mentor for each child and maintain an Academic Track Record for each boarder. He /she should meet the class teachers of each child once a month to keep track of the academic progression and behaviour. Should maintain the updated academic tracker for each child. Each warden shall ensure that the residents in his or her charge observe the boarding house guidelines and maintain discipline and decorum and shall promptly report to the Head of Boarding in all cases of the boarders' misbehaviour, indiscipline, and sickness. The warden should be available in the boarding house every day whenever children are inside the boarding house to attend to official business and boarders’ needs. Ensure evening sports, morning fitness, co-curricular activities, golden hours, field trips, competitions, moonlight dinner, and student pick up and drops happen as per the schedule/calendar and no changes happen to it. Individual portfolio for each boarder to be updated and maintained (Academic progress and health records) The warden should inform the parents on the minor illness of the children (minor or major) along with the treatment provided or steps taken, immediately to parents after informing and availing permission from the Head of Boarding. Parent Information about any Major illness will be informed by HOB or Admin Director. The Warden/head warden can transfer a resident from one room/dorm to another in consultation with HoB Wardens must have to make sure that, students are effectively utilising the reading /study time. The wardens will periodically verify the furniture and fittings of the boarding house, with the help of supporting staff and act for their repairs/replacement or for obtaining additional furniture whenever there is a repair or need rather than waiting till the end of the academic year to take up maintenance. The wardens will be allotted duty to verify students' entry to the dining hall and to ensure home lunch students are not allowed into the school lunch area. The warden will conduct daily inspections of the dining hall, especially when the boarders take their meals. He/she enforces discipline and decorum in the dining hall. He/she will keep a watch over the cleanliness of the food court, kitchen and of the food prepared and sign the feedback in the mess feedback register in turns. Dorm parents/wardens to call every parent once a term in August, November, and February to have a general comforting discussion along with HOB and Admin Director. Meet parents and children or talk to them whenever they need, handle issues raised by them and be a moral support to them. He/she can leave the campus when the boarders go home with the consent of HOB. The warden should maintain proper records as directed by HoB. All the registers and documents must be submitted to HOB for verification before the 5th of every month. Roof terrace should always be locked. Keys should be with the facility manager. Student Attendance register should be followed and maintained up to date for the respective dorms. Attendance has to be taken twice at 5pm and 9pm daily.
