Purpose of job
We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Building Management System (BMS) Specialist to join an existing team that supports post project activities across one of the largest BMS portfolios in the world. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong technical foundation in BMS programming, coupled with exceptional project leadership skills and business acumen. The successful candidate will maintain, enhance, and optimize our global services, ensuring seamless BMS functionality and delivering unparalleled customer experiences.
Key job responsibilities
• Monitor and respond to BMS tickets and work orders, ensuring timely resolution
• Conduct basic troubleshooting of BMS technologies, IoT platforms, and system data
• Update maintenance logs, compliance records, and ticket documentation accurately
• Assist in contractor supervision and site access control activities
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and escalate complex issues appropriately
• Support training sessions and knowledge sharing within the team
• Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders and vendors
• Work flexible shifts to provide 24/7 BMS support, ensuring global customers receive timely assistance
• Follow clear instructions and apply best responses to resolve Building Management System issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team development
- Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7/365 environment
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering, Electrical/Electronics/Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Experience in BMS programming, commissioning and Troubleshooting with a minimum of 3-5 years in building controls or related field
- Experience in integration of multiple communications protocols such as BACnet, LON, Modbus, SNMP to a single platform with normalized data for standard visualization.
- Experience in remotely troubleshooting BMS communication issues, including fieldbus (BACnet, LON, Modbus via RS485), Network Gateways and IP-based protocols (Niagara Fox, MQTT, BACnet/IP, SNMP) is essential.
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors
- 2+ years of motor controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components) experience
- Experience managing internal stakeholder relationships and working successfully across organizations and different cultures to deliver results requiring collaboration and coordination with multiple teams
- Certification with Tridium Niagara and Distech Controls is plus
