As a Backend Developer at Valmet, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of server-side applications and services that support our clients’ digital solutions.

Projects will be delivered both on-premises and in cloud environments.

In this role, you will play a key part in the following activities:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and applications

  
  

• Creating APIs and integration layers to connect applications, systems, and platforms

  
  

• Implementing business logic, data flows, and backend functionalities

  
  

• Working with databases and application data

  
  

• Ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and software quality

  
  

• Collaborating with frontend developers, analysts, architects, and project teams

  
  

Required Experience and Qualification:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Automation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or another relevant technical/scientific discipline

  
  

• 3+ years of experience in backend software development

  
  

• Experience in backend development using modern programming languages and frameworks, such as Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, or similar

  
  

• Knowledge of REST APIs, web services, and integration mechanisms

  
  

• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL

  
  

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is considered a plus

  
  

• Understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and clean code practices

  
  

• Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices

  
  

• Basic knowledge of cloud environments and containerization technologies is considered a plus

  
  

• Exposure to software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, or solution design is considered a plus

  
  

• Fluent English
