Role Summary


·         Executes mechanical design of drilling equipment and system components for offshore and onshore industry applications, mainly mud/slurry pump components for mining applications, with minimal intervention from product experts.


·         Owns and executes 3D/2D modeling, drawing preparation, and preparation of BOMs and project-related technical documentation for assigned products.


·         Ensures designs meet performance, safety, and manufacturability goals by championing HMH policies and procedures.


·         Interfaces with global stakeholders to support design package delivery.


Essential Functions


·         Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects—mainly on pump components—using sound engineering principles, with oversight from senior engineers


·         Develop 3D models, GA drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings


·         Perform engineering calculations for strength, pressure, and fatigue and Coordinate with analysis and material teams


·         Apply API/ASME/ISO standards and HMH internal specifications


·         Resolve manufacturing, quality, and field‑feedback issues


·         Formulate and implement plans to meet technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments


·         Participate in design reviews and peer checks


·         Support cost, weight, and reliability improvement initiatives


·         Provide technical and engineering support cross functionally to supply chain, manufacturing and test/assembly teams


·         Mentor Associate Engineers on design execution


Basic Qualifications


·         B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering


·         3–6 years of experience in pump, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery design


·         Proficiency in 3D CAD and BOM creation using Creo/Windchill


·         Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals


·         Experience working in cross‑functional engineering environments


Desired Qualifications


·         Direct experience with mud pumps, slurry pumps, or mining equipment


·         Knowledge of API, ASME codes, and GD&T


·         Knowledge of general material types, coating types, manufacturing techniques, and NDE


·         Exposure to FEA or CFD tools for design verification


·         Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill)


·         Ability to work with global engineering teams


·         Strong communication and teamwork skills
