POSITION TITLE: Senior Financial Analyst – Operations Accounting (GBS ATR – ANZ)


REPORTS TO: Finance Manager – Ops (ANZ)


DEPARTMENT/CATEGORY: GBS ATR


LOCATION: GCC (Gujarat, India)


WORKING HOURS: Shift aligned to ANZ close and business hours (as required)


OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION


Support ANZ month-end/quarter-end/year-end close and reporting for Operations Accounting, ensuring accurate and timely outcomes within strict timelines. The role covers Inventory, Supply Chain and P2P accounting—particularly GRNI, MRO, SLOB and Fixed Assets—through journal preparation, reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, and variance analysis. The role partners closely with ANZ finance and operational teams, supports statutory audit requirements (e.g., PwC), and drives process/control improvements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Close Execution (Month/Quarter/Year-End)


  • Execute Ops Accounting close activities (journals, accruals, reclasses, reviews and tie-outs).
  • Ensure entries are accurate, complete, and supported by required documentation.
  • Expected results:
  • Close deliverables completed on time with minimal post-close corrections.
  • Clear audit trail maintained for all postings.

Inventory / Supply Chain / P2P Accounting (Ops scope)


  • Act as the key contact for inventory and supply chain accounting topics (direct purchases / P2P operational topics) within ANZ scope.
  • Provide timely responses to business queries and support issue resolution with stakeholders.
  • Ensure Accurate accounting outcomes and strong service levels to stakeholders.

GRNI (Goods Receipt Not Yet Invoiced)


  • Perform GRNI accounting activities including ageing review, investigation of reconciling items, and root-cause follow-up.
  • Coordinate clearing actions with Procurement/AP and plants; ensure appropriate support for open items.
  • Ensure GRNI balances appropriately stated, substantiated, and aged items actively managed/cleared.

MRO (Maintenance, Repairs & Other consumables)


  • Support accounting and analysis for MRO spend, including correct classification and timely recognition.
  • Partner with operations/maintenance teams to resolve coding and timing issues.’
  • Work to Improve accuracy of MRO reporting and reduced rework/reclasses.

SLOB (Slow Moving & Obsolete Inventory)


  • Support SLOB provisioning activities (data validation, calculation support, entries, and documentation) in line with policy.
  • Ensure SLOB reserves calculated and booked accurately with audit-ready support.

Fixed Assets


  • Support fixed asset accounting activities (additions, retirements, transfers, depreciation review).
  • Coordinate with site engineering/maintenance and plant finance to obtain required inputs and support.
  • Ensure fixed asset balances accurate and substantiated; capitalization policy compliance maintained.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations / Controls / Compliance


  • Prepare and/or review balance sheet reconciliations and substantiation schedules per company policy and deadlines.
  • Identify, investigate, and escalate reconciling items, compliance risks, and control gaps; support remediation actions.
  • Support internal controls/SOx testing requests as applicable to scope.
  • Expected results:
  • Reconciliations completed on time with appropriate evidence and timely resolution of aged items.
  • Control requirements met with issues tracked to closure.

Variance Analysis / Commentary


  • Prepare monthly actuals analysis and balance sheet flux commentary for Ops Accounting topics.
  • Investigate variances and drive root-cause resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Clear, accurate explanations and timely identification/escalation of issues.

Audit and Regulatory Support


  • Support statutory audit and periodic audit requests (internal/external), including evidence coordination and query resolution (e.g., PwC).
  • Complete local regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., Bureau of Statistics surveys) as assigned.
  • Audit/regulatory submissions supported on time with high-quality documentation and minimal repeat queries.

Continuous Improvement / Standardization


  • Identify and implement process, template, controls, and automation improvements within Ops Accounting scope.
  • Reduced manual effort, improved cycle times, and increased consistency/quality.

Ad hoc assignments


  • Perform ad hoc tasks within Ops Accounting / ATR scope, ensuring critical close timelines are not impacted.
  • Business needs supported while maintaining close quality and timeliness.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


Qualifications (Mandatory)


  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance (or related).
  • Qualified accountant (CPA/CA or equivalent).

Experience / Capabilities


  • 5+ years’ accounting experience (Ops Accounting / inventory / supply chain / fixed assets / close preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate reconciling items.
  • Clear communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure across time zones; strong planning and prioritization.
  • Collaborative approach and strong relationship management.
  • Large corporate/shared services/professional environment exposure (preferred).
  • FMCG/manufacturing/supply chain exposure (preferred).
  • Technical Knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook (mandatory).
  • ERP exposure (e.g., BPCS/SAP/other) (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Australian accounting standards (mandatory); US GAAP exposure (preferred).

KEY STAKEHOLDER INTERACTIONS


  • ANZ Finance / Plant Controllers / Management: close coordination, variance explanations, issue resolution.
  • Supply Chain / Operations / Manufacturing / Inventory Control / Engineering: operational drivers and support for GRNI/MRO/SLOB/FA topics.
  • Procurement / AP: GRNI follow-up and clearing actions.
  • WHQ / Zone Corporate Accounting: reporting alignment and issue resolution.
  • Internal Audit / Controls / SOx: evidence support and remediation actions.
  • External Auditors (e.g., PwC): audit support and query management.
