Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Analyst – US Correspondent Banking Compliance


Location: MGN, India (MBNY’s dedicated team)


Department: Quality Control (QC), Mashreq Bank, New York (“MBNY”)

Job Summary


The Quality Control (QC) Analyst is responsible for conducting independent, risk-based quality control reviews of AML, KYC, and Sanctions compliance activities supporting US intermediary and correspondent banking relationships. The role ensures compliance with the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), related AML regulations, and US sanctions requirements (including OFAC), and alignment with regulatory expectations applicable to US banks.


Key Responsibilities


Quality Control & Review


  • Perform independent QC reviews of AML, KYC/CDD/EDD, and Sanctions screening work completed for US correspondent and intermediary banking clients
  • Review customer due diligence files, risk assessments, transaction monitoring outputs, sanctions alerts, and periodic reviews for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
  • Assess adherence to US BSA/AML requirements, OFAC sanctions regulations, internal policies, procedures, and control frameworks
  • Validate consistency of risk ratings, rationale, and supporting documentation

Issue Identification & Reporting


  • Identify control gaps, regulatory deficiencies, and documentation weaknesses
  • Clearly document QC findings, including root cause analysis and regulatory impact
  • Escalate material issues in line with governance and escalation procedures
  • Track remediation actions and validate corrective measures

Regulatory & Risk Awareness


  • Maintain strong understanding of US regulatory expectations applicable to correspondent and intermediary banking
  • Apply a risk-based approach aligned with FFIEC guidance and industry best practices
  • Support readiness for internal audits, regulatory exams, and management reviews

Stakeholder Engagement


  • Provide constructive feedback to first-line AML, KYC, and Sanctions teams
  • Participate in discussions with Compliance stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QC methodologies and control standards

Risk Escalation & Governance


  • Identify and escalate: 
    • Control gaps at respondent banks
    • Significant changes in risk profile
    • Potential sanctions or regulatory exposure

Regulatory, Audit & Exam Support


  • Ensure full alignment with: 
    • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
    • FinCEN CDD Rule
    • FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual
    • OFAC sanctions requirements

Stakeholder Collaboration


  • Work closely with: 
    • MBNY KYC Team
    • MBNY Sanctions Team
    • AML Investigations and SAR teams

Experience


  • Strong working knowledge of the US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), AML regulations, and US Sanctions / OFAC requirements
  • 4-5 years of experience performing QC, QA, independent review, or second-line oversight of AML, KYC, and Sanctions processes for US banks
  • Experience supporting correspondent banking and intermediary banking compliance activities
  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply sound compliance judgment
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications


  • CAMS or equivalent AML certification
  • Familiarity with transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems
