Role Context




The role is part of the FP&A Product Development and Support team within the FP&A Centre of Excellence (CoE), supporting the British Council’s Anaplan-based FP&A platform. The position focuses on maintaining and enhancing Anaplan models, supporting testing, resolving issues, and implementing continuous improvements to enable accurate forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning. Initially, the role will support ongoing FP&A solution releases before transitioning into business-as-usual activities, including optimisation, integrations, and evolving planning capabilities.



Working closely with the FP&A Global Process Owner, Anaplan partners, finance teams, and global stakeholders, the role contributes to a customer-centric, finance-led planning environment focused on agility, innovation, and strong user experience. The team builds and maintains solutions in-house to reduce third-party dependency, improve responsiveness, and strengthen ownership of the platform while collaborating with FP&A, Digital & Technology, DEP, SAP Master Data, technical support teams, and business planners globally.




Main Responsibilities




The role is responsible for designing, maintaining, and enhancing Anaplan models that support FP&A processes including planning, forecasting, and budgeting. Responsibilities include translating business requirements into scalable model solutions, managing dashboards, master data mappings, integrations, and supporting testing, troubleshooting, documentation, version control, and application support to ensure platform stability and continuous improvement.



The role also works closely with finance teams, FP&A analysts, Digital & Technology, and global stakeholders to deliver enhancements, improve data integration, support users, and drive agile product development initiatives. In addition, the position contributes to training, process design, system optimisation, and ongoing improvement of Anaplan capabilities, while applying strong expertise in FP&A concepts, Excel, Power BI, SAP integrations, and enterprise planning systems.




Role specific skills



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Interest in financial modelling and data-driven decision-making.
  • Basic knowledge of financial planning concepts; willingness to learn advanced modelling techniques.
  • Proficiency in Excel; exposure to BI tools and FP&A systems is an advantage.

Role specific knowledge and experience



Minimum/essential



  • 3-5 years hands-on Anaplan experience
  • Level 2 Anaplan Model Builder or above.
  • Proficiency in Anaplan modules, lists, dashboards
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, driver-based forecasting).
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Advanced Anaplan architecture, integration with ERP/CRM/data lakes, API usage, performance tuning
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable



  • Level 3 Model Builder
  • Finance qualifications – ACCA / CIMA etc
  • Experience working with SAP products, especially SAP ECC
  • Background in financial services, fintech, or consulting.
  • Familiarity with other EPM tools (Oracle, OneStream, IBM TM1, SAP BPC).
  • Master Anaplanner certification is a plus.
