Position Overview:


The EHS Engineer will play a crucial role in establishing a culture of safety within railway network projects mainly in Athens, but covering Central and Northern Greece. EHS Engineer will supervise fieldwork and ensuring that all safety procedures are met throughout the duration of the projects. This position will focus on developing the EHS system from the start, ensuring compliance with safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and establish a safety culture and promote EHS continuous improvement throughout the project.
  • Ensure that the EHS Management System aligns with Alstom's EHS processes, local legal requirements, and international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) are implemented and maintained.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of EHS Risk Assessments, EHS Management Plans, and Method Statements.
  • Measure, monitor, and evaluate key characteristics of operations and activities
  • Manage and report KPIs related to EHS performance to ensure compliance with established goals.
  • Ensure that all accidents and incidents are prevented, reported, recorded, investigated, and analyzed to mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the site team to ensure adherence to EHS practices and procedures.
  • Contribute to the standardization and consistency of EHS processes, facilitating integration and implementation across the project.
  • Support project execution processes end-to-end, ensuring alignment with EHS objectives.
  • Define training needs and deploy learning and development programs to enhance EHS competencies among team members.
  • Ensure that the project's subcontractors comply with Alstom's EHS requirements and local legislation.
  • Conducting regular workplace inspections to ensure compliance. 

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Health and Safety, Environmental qualifications
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001, 14001, relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in EHS roles, preferably within construction or transportation projects.
  • Good understanding of Greek legislation related to Health and Safety.
  • Analytical skills and experience in risk assessment methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
