Job description

For more than 30 years, SQA Services has been a leader in providing managed supplier quality services — including audits, inspections, corrective actions, remediation, and engineering support — to manufacturers across regulated industries. We deploy experienced quality professionals across the United States and in over 90 countries to support client and supplier sites on demand.

SQA Services is seeking an Aerospace Quality Engineer to support a space flight hardware program.

This is a 0.8 FTE contract role (approximately 32 hours per week / 4 days per week) requiring a hands-on QE to provide support on the manufacturing floor. The role focuses on quality oversight, documentation review, and nonconformance management during production.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams in a flight hardware environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-floor quality support for aerospace hardware production
  • Review and validate work instructions, travelers, and production documentation
  • Support nonconformance (NCR) review and disposition
  • Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Support in-process and final inspections
  • Identify risks and drive corrective actions and process improvements
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in aerospace or defense manufacturing
  • Experience supporting production or manufacturing floor quality activities
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and quality systems (AS9100 preferred)
  • Experience with nonconformance management and root cause analysis
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on satellite or space flight hardware programs
  • Familiarity with NASA workmanship standards (IPC, J-STD, 8739 series)
  • Experience with actuators, propulsion components, or similar systems
  • Experience supporting high-visibility or ramp-up environments
