Role Overview

The Shopify Developer will own end-to-end development across the company’s Shopify storefront, including theme customization, landing page builds, integrations, performance optimization, and technical troubleshooting. This role will serve as the primary technical owner for all storefront updates and ecommerce initiatives while ensuring a strong user experience and conversion-focused site performance.

In addition to Shopify development, the Shopify Developer will help optimize the brand’s visibility across AI-driven search platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Claude, while also supporting internal AI adoption and workflow improvements across teams. The ideal candidate is highly comfortable within Shopify environments, executes quickly with clean and reliable code, and enjoys applying AI to both ecommerce and operational efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesShopify Storefront Development & Ownership

• Own all development across the Shopify storefront, including themes, templates, and custom functionality.

  
  

• Build and update landing pages, collection pages, PDPs, and promotional pages.

  
  

• Customize Shopify themes and storefront functionality as needed.

  
  

• Maintain site speed, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, and overall technical health.

  
  

Ecommerce Support & Integrations

• Support ecommerce campaign launches and site updates from implementation through deployment.

  
  

• Implement and maintain Shopify apps, third-party integrations, and tracking or analytics tools.

  
  

• Troubleshoot technical issues, bugs, and storefront errors efficiently.

  
  

User Experience & Conversion Optimization

• Improve site functionality, performance, and overall customer experience.

  
  

• Ensure storefront pages are optimized for conversion and usability.

  
  

• Collaborate closely with internal creative and marketing teams to execute ecommerce initiatives and campaigns.

  
  

AI Search & LLM Optimization

• Optimize the storefront for AI-driven search experiences including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Claude.

  
  

• Implement structured data, schema markup, llms.txt, and other technical foundations that help LLMs accurately understand and cite the brand.

  
  

• Partner with marketing teams to optimize product, collection, and content pages for both traditional SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO/AEO).

  
  

• Monitor how the brand is represented in AI-generated answers and recommend improvements.

  
  

AI Tools & Team Enablement

• Stay current on leading AI tools across development, marketing, content, and operations.

  
  

• Identify opportunities for AI-enabled workflows and operational efficiencies across departments.

  
  

• Support leadership and internal teams with practical AI adoption through documentation, collaboration, and workflow guidance.

  
  

• Pilot and implement internal AI workflows related to content generation, customer support assistance, merchandising automation, and operational improvements.

  
  

QualificationsExperience

• 3+ years working in Shopify environments

  
  

• Experience customizing Shopify themes and storefront functionality.

  
  

• Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to practical workflows, either professionally or personally.

  
  

Skills

• Proficiency in Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  
  

• Experience implementing Shopify apps, integrations, and third-party tools.

  
  

• Familiarity with ecommerce UX and conversion-focused development.

  
  

• Working knowledge of technical SEO, structured data, and schema implementation.

  
  

• Exposure to GEO, AEO, or LLM search optimization is strongly preferred.

  
  

• Hands-on familiarity with modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and Perplexity.

  
  

• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and help teams adopt AI tools effectively.
