Job description

Nexus Analytica is an international energy and digitalization consultancy specializing in renewable energy, power systems, and smart grid solutions. The company supports governments, utilities, and private sector clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in developing and implementing large-scale energy infrastructure projects, including solar PV, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and digital energy platforms such as NexusGRID.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of utility-scale solar PV and hybrid (PV + BESS) projects. The role combines advanced engineering design, technical leadership, and project coordination, supporting projects from early-stage feasibility through detailed design, procurement, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in utility-scale solar PV systems, including fixed-tilt and tracker-based designs, and experience working with utilities, transmission system operators, or large industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Design & Engineering

  • Lead the design and optimization of utility-scale solar PV systems, including fixed-tilt and single-axis tracker configurations

  • Develop plant layouts, electrical designs (DC/AC), and grid integration concepts

  • Perform energy yield assessments and performance modeling using tools such as PVsyst, PVcase, Helioscope, and AutoCAD

  • Conduct system sizing, cable routing, inverter selection, and loss analysis

  • Integrate BESS into PV plant designs, including sizing, dispatch logic, and hybrid control concepts

  • Apply value engineering principles to optimize CAPEX, OPEX, and system performance

2. Technical Project Management

  • Support and oversee the full project lifecycle: feasibility studies, conceptual design, tendering, detailed engineering, and commissioning

  • Coordinate with internal teams (digital, grid, SCADA, regulatory) and external stakeholders (developers, EPCs, utilities)

  • Review and align technical specifications, employer's requirements, and tender documents

  • Contribute to technical due diligence and bankability assessments for investors and lenders

3. Grid Integration & System Studies

  • Support grid connection studies, including load flow, short-circuit, and dynamic performance considerations

  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, interconnection requirements, and utility standards (e.g., LVRT/HVRT, reactive power, frequency response)

  • Coordinate with grid and power system experts for hybrid system integration (PV + BESS)

4. Technical Leadership

  • Act as a technical reference point for solar PV design within Nexus Analytica

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and analysts

  • Contribute to the development of internal design standards, tools, and methodologies

  • Support innovation in digitalization, optimization, and performance monitoring

5. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review and approve design documents, drawings, simulations, and engineering reports

  • Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE) and project-specific technical requirements

  • Support site assessments, commissioning, and performance validation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in solar PV engineering, with a focus on utility-scale projects

  • Proven experience in designing large-scale PV plants (ground-mounted and tracker systems)

  • Strong proficiency in PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVcase, Helioscope, or similar tools

  • Solid understanding of:

    • Electrical design (DC/AC systems, protection, grounding)

    • Grid integration and interconnection requirements

    • Solar resource assessment and performance modeling

  • Experience with BESS and hybrid PV systems is highly desirable

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, plant monitoring, and digital energy platforms is a plus

  • Strong project management and coordination skills

  • Excellent communication skills in English

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on high-impact international energy projects with governments, utilities, and development institutions

  • Exposure to cutting-edge projects in solar PV, BESS, and digital energy systems

  • A dynamic, multidisciplinary environment combining engineering, digitalization, and policy

  • Career growth into technical leadership and project management roles
