Job description

Siemens EDA is a global technology leader in Electronic Design Automation software. Our software tools enable companies around the world to develop highly innovative electronic products faster and more cost-effectively. Our customers use our tools to push the boundaries of technology and physics to deliver better products in the increasingly complex world of chip, board, and system design. Position Overview: Join the Calibre LSG (Layout Synthetic Generator) team as a Senior Software Engineer and Technical Lead, where you'll drive innovation in synthetic layout generation, design rule validation, and early process enablement for advanced semiconductor nodes. You'll design and develop core capabilities that generate realistic, product-like layout patterns to enable DRC rule development, testchip generation, design space exploration, and early yield learning—before real designs exist. In this role, you'll lead major development efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate with internal teams and customers to shape next-generation solutions for physical verification and manufacturing. You'll contribute to scalable software architecture and drive how layout data is created and used across the Calibre ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: • Design and develop core software for both internal and external products, exceeding customer expectations with a focus on quality and on-time delivery • Build and enhance systems for rule-driven pattern generation and design space exploration • Develop infrastructure for configuration-driven layout generation and pattern synthesis • Lead major technical projects, providing architectural direction and driving execution across global teams • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate LSG into broader Calibre workflows and influence product direction • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and shape next-generation solutions • Mentor junior engineers and foster strong engineering practices within the team Qualifications Required: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field • 5+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in C++ and/or Python • Strong expertise in data structures, algorithms, and software architecture • Demonstrated experience building complex, high-performance systems (e.g., geometry processing, compilers, simulators, or EDA tools) • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Strong communication skills with ability to work effectively across global teams Preferred: • Experience with semiconductor design or EDA tools (layout, DRC, LVS, OPC) • Familiarity with physical layout concepts (geometry, layers, spacing, rules) • Experience with constraint-based or rule-driven systems, test generation, or synthetic data generation • Exposure to DRC rule decks, PDK development, or layout verification flows • Track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers • Experience with AI-assisted workflows or data generation pipelines Why Us At Siemens Software, flexibility is how we work—hybrid by default, built on trust and autonomy. Together, 30,000 people across more than 200 countries build technology that shapes the real world. You'll grow through real projects, strong technical peers, and global mobility, backed by the scale and benefits of an industrial software leader. We're committed to equality and inclusion, and we hire based on merit, skills, and impact. Bring your curiosity and creativity and help us shape tomorrow! Our Benefits & Rewards The salary range for this position is 33,500 USD to 67,000 USD and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
