Job Description: RAN Engineer (Huawei / Nokia / ZTE / Ericsson) Job Summary

We are seeking a Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to operate, maintain, and optimize wireless access networks across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies. The role covers daily operations, performance management, troubleshooting, network changes, and continuous network evolution, with responsibilities defined according to experience level.

Responsibilities & Technical Requirements by Experience Level 3–5 Years (RAN Engineer) RAN Fundamentals & Configuration
  • Strong understanding of GSM / UMTS / LTE / 5G fundamentals and concepts



  • Knowledge of site-level hardware, including BTSX900, and basic SRAN configuration



  • Familiarity with U2020 / CME management systems



Performance & Alarms
  • Awareness of RAN alarms, main KPIs, and counters, including alarm meanings and impact



  • Ability to identify alarm impact and support troubleshooting to resolve KPI degradation



Operations & Coordination
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with:



    • Field Operations (FO), Core, Microwave (MW), FM, Management, and L1 customers



  • Understanding of incident escalation matrix and reporting procedures



Maintenance & Change Activities
  • Perform health checks and prepare basic preventive maintenance reports



  • Implement low-risk change activities following network change management processes



  • Support site acceptance activities and customer follow-up



5–8 Years (Senior RAN Engineer) RAN Architecture & Hardware
  • Full knowledge of Huawei RAN hardware:



    • BSC, BTS, NodeB, eNodeB, gNodeB (different types)



  • Strong command of RAN configurations across 2G/3G/4G/5G



Advanced Operations & Maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with:



    • Rehoming



    • Software / OS upgrades



    • License and certificate activities



  • Expert understanding of RAN alarms, KPIs, and technical complaint resolution



Network Expansion & Optimization
  • Perform expansions on interfaces:



    • A, Gb, IuCS, IuPS, IuR



  • Execute basic LTE / NR configurations



  • Collect and analyze logs and traces for troubleshooting and optimization



Governance, Security & Processes
  • Support Key Event Assurance, emergency handling, and network risk mitigation



  • Conduct network health checks and support drilling tests



  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity, network, and information security



  • Strong experience in:



    • RFC / MOP creation and approvals



    • ITR / SD processes



  • Manage SR processes with ETAC / GTAC and ensure customer satisfaction



  • Advanced usage of iMaster U2020 and CME, including solution preparation and implementation



8+ Years (Expert / Lead RAN Engineer) Performance, KPIs & Governance
  • Expert-level knowledge of Huawei RAN KPIs and counters, including KPI degradation analysis



  • Strong command of:



    • Network change management



    • Incident management



    • Backtracking regulations



Technical Leadership & Cross-Domain Expertise
  • Lead and handle complex incidents and cross-product activities



  • Working knowledge of other network domains:



    • Microwave



    • CS Core



    • PS Core



    • IP Backbone (IPBB)



Capacity, Planning & Audits
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Wireless BSS capacity planning



  • Perform network audits and health checks based on customer requirements



  • Manage BSC license management via ESDP systems



Advanced Knowledge & Continuous Improvement
  • Awareness of SS7 signaling, M3UA applications, and SCTP protocol



  • Actively participate in TMO, mentoring, and technical training programs



  • Continuously update knowledge of new RAN technologies and features and drive adoption



Strategy, Design & Leadership
  • Deliver network insights, contingency planning, and topology design



  • Lead technical teams and drive:



    • Risk identification



    • Risk mitigation strategies



  • Translate customer requirements into end-to-end RAN technical solutions
