Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Engineer to join our fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) team. The successful candidate will ensure product quality and regulatory compliance across production, from raw materials through finished goods. This role requires strong technical knowledge of quality systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, R&D, supply chain and regulatory teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality management systems, procedures and work instructions in line with company policy and relevant regulatory requirements.


  • Lead and support daily quality activities on site, including in-process checks, final inspections and release decisions.


  • Conduct root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolution.


  • Manage non-conformance, deviation and CAPA processes, ensuring timely investigation, documentation and closure.


  • Perform supplier quality assessments and support supplier development activities to improve component and ingredient quality.


  • Support validation and qualification activities (process, equipment, cleaning, test methods) and maintain associated documentation.


  • Maintain and analyse quality metrics (OEE-related quality KPIs, % defects, yield, customer complaints) and prepare regular reports for stakeholders.


  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies to reduce variability and waste.


  • Coordinate product complaint investigations and liaise with customer service to ensure satisfactory resolution and root-cause prevention.


  • Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards applicable to the product portfolio (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO, local regulations).


  • Provide training and coaching to production and quality teams on quality standards, inspection techniques and good manufacturing practice (GMP).


Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.


  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in quality assurance or quality engineering within FMCG or food manufacturing environment.


  • Practical knowledge of quality systems, audits, validation and CAPA processes.


  • Experience with food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, IFS or equivalent) preferred.


  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting (Excel, statistical tools).


  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies; relevant certification desirable.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.


  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.


  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Desirable Attributes
  • Experience with lab management and test method development/validation.


  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for labelling, claims and traceability.


  • Previous exposure to ERP or quality management software (QMS).


  • Proactive, resilient and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
