The German University in Cairo invites applications for vacancies to be filled effective September 2026.
Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science (EMS) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate to join the Department of Design and Production Engineering program. We invite applications for a full-time academic position in the field of Manufacturing Engineering at the rank of Lecturer or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience.
Position Summary:
The successful applicant will contribute to teaching, research, and service activities within the Design and Production Department, with a specialization in Manufacturing Engineering. Applicants are expected to have strong expertise in both conventional and advanced manufacturing technologies, and demonstrate familiarity with contemporary developments in the field, including but not limited to:
• Theory of Metal Cutting
• CNC and digital manufacturing
• Additive Manufacturing Technologies
• Advanced Simulation tools in manufacturing
Qualifications Required:
• A Ph.D. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering with a focus on Subtractive manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing and Process development or a closely related field from a recognized and reputable university.
• A strong teaching record at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Ability to develop advanced technology-oriented learning environments that enable students to participate in their learning actively.
• A demonstrated ability to conduct independent research justified with a research track record with publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in securing or participating in innovative technology based national / international funded research projects is an asset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A commitment to academic excellence and innovation in teaching and research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to conventional and advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Supervise student projects and theses.
• Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable international journals.
• Engage in curriculum development and continuous improvement of teaching materials.
• Contribute to departmental and university service activities.
• Foster partnerships with industry and participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.
