The Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science (EMS) invites applications for a full-time academic position at the rank of Lecturer or Associate Professor in the field of Computational Materials Engineering, within the Department of Materials Engineering.
Position Summary:
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching, research, and service activities with a focus on computational modeling, simulation-driven materials discovery and digital materials design. The candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in advanced simulation tools and their application to modern engineering problems.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and computational mechanics
• Modeling of composite materials and advanced materials systems
• Simulation of additive manufacturing processes
• Digital design and simulation-driven product development
• Multiphysics modeling using platforms such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar
Qualifications Required
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field with a focus on computational modeling/simulation
• Strong background in finite element methods and engineering simulation
• Demonstrated experience with advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus)
• Proven research record with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to integrate simulation tools into teaching and student projects
• Experience in additive manufacturing modeling is highly desirable
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and teaching skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in simulation, computational methods, and design
• Develop and modernize courses using industry-relevant simulation tools
• Supervise student projects in simulation-driven engineering design
• Conduct high-impact research in computational materials and manufacturing
• Contribute to curriculum development with emphasis on digital engineering
• Collaborate with industry in applied simulation and design projects
