Position Overview
The E&I Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing electrical and instrumentation activities across maintenance, projects, and commissioning. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, supports asset reliability, and provides technical coordination between operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize E&I maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with operations and reliability requirements.
  • Review and scope work orders, develop job plans, identify materials, tools, and manpower, and ensure readiness for execution.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities for new installations and system modifications, including loop checks, functional testing, energization, and documentation.
  • Oversee electrical and instrumentation contractors, verify qualifications, manage onboarding, and ensure adherence to site safety and quality standards.
  • Enforce electrical safety programs (LOTO, arc flash, CSA Z462), instrumentation standards, and regulatory compliance across all E&I work.
  • Ensure inspections, calibrations, PMs, and testing are completed for critical electrical and instrumentation assets.
  • Develop E&I scope packages, coordinate resources, and support execution during outages, shutdowns, and capital projects.
  • Provide support for diagnosing electrical faults, instrumentation issues, PLC/DCS concerns, and reliability gaps.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, test sheets, calibration data, redlines, and CMMS updates.
  • Manage procurement and availability of E&I materials, tools, and consumables.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency within E&I systems and processes.
Commissioning Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and verify instrumentation and control system loop checks.
  • Support functional testing of electrical equipment, interlocks, alarms, and control logic.
  • Assist in safe energization of electrical systems, ensuring documentation, sign-offs, and hazard controls are in place.
  • Track, prioritize, and close commissioning punch items to ensure system readiness.
  • Prepare turnover packages including test records, as-built drawings, and commissioning documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Electrical or Instrumentation Trade Certification or technologist diploma.
  • Experience in industrial environments such as mining, chemical, fertilizer, heavy industrial, or oil & gas.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, PLC/DCS, and commissioning processes.
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP commonly used).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
