ولدت وترعرعت نجلاء المدفع في الشارقة، وشغلت مناصب قيادية لعدة شركات كبرى، منها برايس وتر هاووس كوبرز، وشيل، وجوجل، وماكنزي، وتحمل درجة الماجستير في إدارة الأعمال من جامعة ستانفورد، وهي عضو مجلس إدارة القادة الشباب العرب ومجلس سيدات الأعمال في الشارقة. في عام 2012، أصبحت المدفع عضو مجلس إدارة في البنك العربي المتحد.
اليوم، تعمل المدفع بشغف على تدريب وتوجيه رائدي الأعمال الطموحين، وكمديرة عامة لشراع، تطمح لاستقطاب الكفاءات الجديدة، حيث تعمل شراع على أخذ رواد الأعمال الطموحين في رحلة مثيرة لإلهامهم ودعمهم أثناء إنشائهم لأعمالهم الخاصة.
