Could the future Middle East workplace become a more ethical place? According to a recent survey by Bayt.com, the Bayt.com ‘Values, Ethics and Integrity in the MENA Workplace’ poll (June 2014), people in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region place a very high importance on a company’s ethical culture. The survey found that 98% of respondents believe that working for a company that has top ethics and integrity is important, while it is ‘very important’ to 92.3% of them. The Bayt.com ‘Values, Ethics and Integrity in the MENA Workplace’ poll reveals that for the many employees in the MENA region today an ethical workplace is a serious concern. Companies that ignore their ethical responsibilities do so at their peril. Below are some interesting insights from the poll: • Six in 10 state that their company has a written code of ethics. • 55% of respondents have been asked to do something at work that has clashed with their personal values. • 66% say that their companies do have procedures for reporting unethical behavior. • 70% believe it is possible to succeed professionally without compromising their personal morals and values.
