Enhancing career development is crucial for achieving business objectives and fostering greater employee engagement. MENA professionals exhibit a comprehensive approach to their career growth, encompassing various strategies such as optimizing current responsibilities for improved efficiency, pursuing specialized training, and engaging in activities geared towards future roles.

Drawing attention to the escalating demand for training opportunities, Bayt.com recently conducted a survey titled 'Career Development in the MENA'. The survey highlights the prevailing need for continuous learning and professional development within the region's workforce, extending beyond the confines of traditional workplaces.

Key Findings:

  • 81% of MENA professionals would leave their current company for better training opportunities.
  • 89% of respondents consider career development very important.
  • Technical/job-related skills were deemed the most vital training area for respondents (16%), followed by management development and leadership/coaching skills (both at 14%).
  • A great majority (95%) of respondents are keen to have a formal career development plan in place.
  • 56% of the respondents have formally set development plans with their manager.

Data for the Career Development in the MENA 2023 survey was collected online from May 31 to June 26, 2023. Results are based on a sample of 2,088 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia among others.
