The Bayt.com Job Index Survey - September 2022

Are employers intending to hire for the upcoming year? What skills and academic qualifications will be the most sought-after in the next three months? What about the industries that are attracting or retaining top talent across the MENA region?

Bayt.com has recently conducted the Middle East Job Index Survey to measure the job availability and hiring trends in the MENA region, and to provide an understanding of required skill sets and qualifications.

Key Findings:

  • 66% of MENA employers are to go on a hiring spree in 2023.
  • Good communication skills in Arabic and English (62%) emerged as the top skill that employers look for in a candidate.
  • Accountant (17%), Sales Manager (14%) and Sales Executive (14%) are the top roles that MENA employers are hiring for over the next three months.
  • Business Management (25%), Engineering (21%) and Commerce (20%) are the most sought-after academic qualifications amongst employers.
  • 50% of the companies that plan to hire in the next three months will be hiring for a maximum of five jobs.

Data for the Middle East Job Index Survey was collected online from June 9 to August 1, 2022. Results are based on a sample of 889 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan among others.
