The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey -January 2013

Data for the January2013 Jobs Index was collected online between the21st December2012 to31st January2013, with4,349 working professionals from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Pakistan. Males and females aged over18 years old, of all nationalities, were included in the survey.

Survey Highlights:

  • • Current hiring expectancy slightly better compared to the past wave with30% of respondents claiming they will ‘definitely hire’ in the next3 months. Another27% are slightly uncertain about their plans sand say they would ‘probably hire’. Respondents from KSA and Lebanon are more likely to hire than others.
  • •Future hiring is constant with67% being positive of hiring in the next12 months. Of these30% to ‘definitely hire’ and37% to ‘probably hire’. KSA shows greater likelihood of hiring in the next12 months.
  • • Overall the Private Sector (Multi-national Companies) are more likely to hire in the next3 months (62%) and in the coming12 months followed by Private sector- Large local companies.
  • •46% of all those indicating they would hire in the next3 months report they will look to hire for less than5 positions. Another23% say they would hire for6-10 positions.
  • • Top demand for professionals to fill in lower executive positions like Junior Executive (34%) and Executive (29%).
  • • Top qualifications in demand by employers are those who who hold Business Graduates/ Post Graduates (24%) and Engineering Graduation/Post Graduation (22%) degrees.
