The Bayt.com Consumer Confidence Index Survey – March 2017

The Bayt.com Consumer Confidence Index depicts the financial and economic landscape in the MENA region and tracks any changes on a bi-annual basis. The report gives us many insights into the personal, business and economic conditions of the region. For instance, the majority of respondents are anticipating an increase in the cost of living and perhaps that signals a need to re-evaluate the stability of personal finances and plan income sources accordingly.

Survey Highlights:

  • 17% of respondents believe that their financial condition is better now than6 months ago.
  • Nearly four in10 respondents expect their financial condition to improve in the next6 months.
  • Majority of respondents (72%) expect the cost of living to increase in the next6 months.
  • Nearly half (46%) of MENA residents expect the business conditions to improve within the next year.
  • Nearly half (47%) of UAE residents expect to have a higher number of employees in the next6 months.
  • Nearly half (46%) of MENA respondents are satisfied with their career growth opportunities at their current company.
  • Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Consumer Confidence Index survey was collected online from January10 to January31,2017, with2750 respondents from the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Males and females aged over18 years old, of all nationalities, were included in the survey.
