Job Interviews in the Middle East and North Africa 2018

Interviews are often considered as one of the most difficult and stressful part of the job application for many job seekers, especially in light of the high competition in the region’s job market. When it comes to preparation and readiness to tackle the different types of interviews, how is it handled in the region? And how does the process begin from the second the candidate is selected? Do interviews take much time? Bayt.com polled thousands of jobseekers in the MENA to better understand how job seekers perceive interviews and how they prepare for them. Read more below.

Key findings:

  • 90.5% of respondents stated that face-to-face interviews last for less than one hour.
  • 67.1% of respondents say that they are generally asked one to five questions during a job interview.
  • 86.4% of respondents confirmed that they prepare their own questions to ask during the job interview.
  • 80.5% say that they follow up with the employer after the job interview.
  • Data for the2018 Job Interviews in the Middle East and North Africa poll was collected online from April11,2018 to June10,2018. Results are based on a sample of10,617 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Others.
