Job description

The role of Manager Environmental leads Bapco Energies’ sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and standards. develops policies to reduce the company’s environmental impact and oversees performance in resource efficiency, biodiversity, pollution prevention, and climate adaptation. By collaborating with stakeholders, the Environmental Manager assists Bapco Energies achieve sustainability goals and maintain strong relationships with regulators, investors, and the community.



Bapco Energies operates a portfolio spanning the entire energy value chain in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The portfolio includes wholly-owned subsidiaries and specialized operating companies. Together, these companies drive Bapco Energies' mission to power the next generation.
Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement environmental strategies, policies, and action plans aligned with Bapco Energies’ sustainability objectives. Set ESG targets, integrate environmental considerations into decision‑making, and establish KPIs to monitor progress and ensure accountability in line with the ESG roadmap and global standards. 


2. Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and reporting requirements. Oversee environmental permitting, manage internal and external audits, and coordinate corrective actions. Maintain and enhance the Group’s ESMS to meet ISO 14001 standards, develop guidelines for emerging regulations and lender requirements, and integrate environmental risks into corporate risk management. 


3. Manage environmental programs. Lead group-wide strategies for waste, water conservation, and biodiversity; promote air quality and spill prevention to protect soil and groundwater. 


4. Track the company’s carbon footprint, support decarbonization, and collaborate with the Emissions Management team. 


5. Assess and recommend new technologies and best practices to improve environmental performance. 


6. Manage the Environmental Team, set goals, develop staff, and promote environmental stewardship. Collaborate with other departments and ESG teams to align sustainability efforts, Lead employee training to build awareness of environmental responsibilities. 


7. Monitor industry trends and best practices in environmental management and sustainability. Regularly evaluate Bapco Energies’ programs against international standards to find ways to improve effectiveness.


 8. Lead the preparation and submission of accurate, comprehensive, and timely environmental performance reports and ESG disclosures for internal and external stakeholders. Regularly update senior management on environmental performance, risks, opportunities, and progress against targets.



Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field. Master’s degree is desired.


 • Minimum 10 years experience in environmental management, emissions reduction, sustainability programs, or related technical fields.


 • Proven ability to develop and implement environmental programs, manage teams or projects, work with regulators and communities, and handle international ESG reporting standards. 


• Strong knowledge of Regional & International environmental standards, emissions calculations, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability reporting. 


• Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills. Strategic problem-solver with integrity and commitment to sustainability. Bilingual in English and Arabic required
