Job description

Commissioning Manager – Renewable Energy & Power Infrastructure
Location: Perth-based (frequent site travel)
Rate: $150 – $170 per hour + Superannuation
Length: 12 Months (strong likelihood of extension)
The Role
A major project delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning activities across a large and highly integrated portfolio of renewable energy and power infrastructure projects in Western Australia.
This is not a traditional site-only commissioning role. The focus is on leading the end‑to‑end commissioning pathway across multiple concurrent projects, bringing structure, consistency and execution discipline to complex delivery environments. The role will suit someone who can define how commissioning is done, not just execute pre-existing plans.
While Perth-based, the role requires regular and visible engagement on site, particularly during energisation, integration and handover phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall commissioning approach across a multi-project renewable energy portfolio
  • Define and embed a clear, repeatable commissioning framework across projects
  • Drive commissioning readiness across engineering, procurement and construction phases
  • Oversee energisation strategies, staged turnover, integrated testing and final handover
  • Act as the central interface across delivery teams, site commissioning personnel, contractors and OEMs
  • Coordinate commissioning inputs across controls, SCADA, EMS, PPC and protection systems
  • Support milestone delivery including first power, integrated testing and operational readiness
  • Maintain strong safety, documentation, reporting and governance standards

Key Experience
  • Senior commissioning experience across renewables, HV power systems or large-scale energy infrastructure
  • Strong end‑to‑end commissioning lifecycle exposure, from pre‑commissioning through to handover
  • Solid understanding of HV systems, substations, transmission and network integration
  • Experience working across complex stakeholder environments without direct reporting authority
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage directly with site teams
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost, schedule and risk impacts
Experience across wind, solar and BESS projects is highly regarded.

Why This Role?

  • High-impact commissioning leadership role on a major WA energy portfolio
  • Opportunity to shape and standardise commissioning practices across multiple projects
  • Long-term contract potential with program certainty
  • Perth-based with varied and meaningful site exposure
  • Highly competitive daily rate reflective of senior accountability
